To fully utilize the high quality micro data collected by the Survey Data Center at IESR, and promote a close integration between microeconomic theory, econometric methodology and empirical applications, IESR will establish the Center for Econometrics and Microdata Practice (CEMP).
CEMP is under the direction of Yingyao Hu, professor of economics at Johns Hopkins University, and is joined by Wei Shi and Ji-Liang Shiu from Jinan University. CEMP currently has 11 center fellows from prestigious institutions.
CEMP has 10 open rank, tenure-track or tenured, faculty positions, and 2 research associates positions to fill.
About CEMP
CEMP develops and applies methods for modelling behavior of individual economic agents, such as consumers and firms, and the impact of relevant policy interventions. We focus on the development of application-oriented micro-econometric methods and the introduction of state-of-the-art quantitative technologies to applied microeconomic research to promote a close integration of microeconomic theory and econometric methodology. CEMP encourages interdisciplinary research among the fields of econometrics, applied microeconomics, statistics, computer sciences, and other social sciences.
CEMP conducts research and organizes conferences, workshops and training courses. Academic and professional economists, social scientists, statisticians, and computer scientists from China and abroad are welcome at CEMP events.
CEMP maintains an extensive network of fellows at home and abroad. It intends to become a leading research institute in the field of micro-econometrics in China.
CEMP is inside the Institute for Economic and Social Research (IESR) at Jinan University and encourages collaborations among faculty members in IESR. CEMP complies with the IESR regulations for tenure and promotion.
